So what are

Wrinkle Reducing Treatments?

These are what you'll generally hear being referred to as "Botox."

Botox is a brand name of one of the agents that can be injected to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

What are they made from?

These treatments make use of a substance called Botulinum Toxin.

This is a toxin that is produced by a bacteria known as Clostridium Botulinum.  In times gone past infections with this bacteria were responsible for a disease known as botulism.  Nowadays however, the medical profession has identified uses for the toxin alone.

One of these uses helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

How does it work?

When carefully calculated doses of the toxin are injected in and around a muscle it reduces the ability of that muscle to contract.  By injecting the muscles around the areas that form wrinkles we can reduce the size and depth of those wrinkles which will lead to a smoother appearance of the face.
